John Ronald Reuel Tolkien

‘In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit.’

The opening sentence of ‘The Hobbit’ by J.R.R. Tolkien

John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was born in

January 3 1892. He grew up in South Africa.

Books he wrote: The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings,
The Adventures of Tom Bombadil,
The Silmarillion and
The Children of Húrin

He wrote these books in 1916–1971. He got inspired by his close friend C.S Lewis who wrote the series of Narnia.

The story of the The Hobbit is a story that happens in middle earth. It all starts with a hobbit who finds a ring that can turn you invisible and have a lot of power. But it is guarded by a creature called Smeagel, also known as Gollum, who is a cursed creature because he got controlled by the ring. That’s how Bilbo got the ring in the cave where Gollum lived.

The series continues with The Lord Of The Rings 1,2,3

We chose this author because… we think he is good at writing adventure books. We like him as well because we like that he created middle earth and its creatures.
