
In 1976 Michael and his wife, Clare, started the Farms For Children Charity (FFCC), which aims to relieve the poverty of experience of young children from inner city and urban areas by providing them with a week in which they work actively and purposefully on farms in the heart of the countryside.
Michael’s first job was being a primary teacher in Kent. He taught in the school of London Sussex in Canterbury. He wrote more than 120 books. His first book was called, It Never Rained, it was published in 1974. Some of his books were made into films. Like War horse. Michael Morpurgo has worked with a number of illustrators, including Quentin Blake, Christian Birmingham, Emma Chichester Clark, Michael Foreman, Shoo Rayner, Tony Ross and Sarah Young.

The reason why we like Michael Morpurgo is because we love reading his books. There is nothing else we would rather do then read his books. They are the best books we have ever read. Our favourite books are Shadow, War horse and Kaspar The Prince Of Cats. We recommend these books to all our friends.
